First Serves are opportunities to try a new ministry, a place to serve, at Valley Brook without a long term commitment.

Assist with a variety of clerical and project tasks that overflow from the Pastor or Valley Brook events. 

Tasks can include: Filing; Processing mailings; Folding bulletins & newsletters; Copying; Proof reading; Assorted projects (e.g. organizing "Lending Library" resources & Bible Study resources)

Many projects can be completed from your home.

Want to help but not sure where to start?  Come and help with a variety of administrative projects while enjoying the company of others, some great music (courtesy of the Worship Team's rehearsal) and sweet treats.  Whether you stay for 30 minutes or 90 we appreciate your desire to serve God and the ministry of Valley Brook!

COFFEE/REFRESHMENT TEAM
Help in the set up of coffee, beverages and snacks enjoyed by the church body following service.

FELLOWSHIP MEAL TEAM
Help plan, organize, set up the monthly meal and help to clean up following the meal.  The meals take place after service.  During the summer months meals are usually held outside at our church property and during the rest of the year they are held in the Granby High School cafeteria.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS MINISTRY
Help, on a rotating basis, decorate the worship space on Sundays (e.g. auditorium stage, lobby area).  Also set up decorations and assorted toiletries in the restrooms.  At the end of service help take down and pack up decorations.

GREETER
Greet all Valley Brook attenders and guests in the lobby as they arrive and leave in order to show Christ's love through a welcoming spirit.  Direct new guests as needed to the auditorium and restroom.

SET UP & TAKE DOWN VOLUNTEER
Help, on a rotating basis, with activities necessary to prepare the high school for worship and Sunday school.

Tasks include: placing signs at each entrance, set up classrooms; hang hallway signs; take down signs and pack up supplies at the end of service and pack in trailer.

USHER
Greet and distribute bulletins and pens to attenders as they enter the auditorium for worship.  Help collect offering during the service.  Occasionally, hand out items to attenders as they leave service.
