Lessons in Lordship
Dear Valley Brook Friends & Family,
This summer God led me to study the Sermon on the Mount found in Matthew 5-7. These words of Jesus represent some of his core teaching on what it means to follow him as the Lord and leader of our lives. I love this material and it never ceases to open up a new understanding of what it means to live for Christ and not for the culture around us.
This spring one of our Valley Brook leaders gave me, and many of you, a copy of the book, In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day by Pastor Mark Batterson. This book has ignited me! Many of you have told me it has done the same for you! The combination of reading the Sermon on the Mount and this book has produced a spiritual explosion in my life.
When a person decides to allow Jesus to become their Lord, they're letting Him be their leader! Starting on August 1, we will be challenged, by exploring Jesus' Sermon on the Mount and Batterson’s book, to go deeper in personally following the Lordship of Christ!
