Congregational Meeting

At this year’s annual meeting we worshipped and celebrated and we reviewed the goals that our Elders set for 2024-25 and shared the goals for 2025-26, we confirmed elders, reviewed and approved budgets and shared some important information:

• While both years have goals related to discipleship, evangelism and generosity, this years the elders set goals that are specific and measurable. The goals for us at Valley Brook are to raise the evangelistic temperature of our church, deepen our roots as disciples of Jesus and foster a culture of radical generosity. 
  
  
• We recognized Bob Smith for his leadership as he is going off the Elder Board and we confirmed two elders, Matt Deardorff for a second term and Adam Gooley for a first term.
  
  
• After reviewing last years budget, we discussed the 2025-26 budget which is a deficit budget. The elders proposed this after the past two years required using other funds to make up for short fall in giving. They recognized that we are still recovering from the changes during the pandemic and that we may still be in a rebuilding season. After discussion this budget was approved.
  
  
• A few final announcements were made: Valley Brook is changing the online giving platform and everyone was asked to switch over by the end of June. It was announced that Pastor Clark will be on sabbatical from June 15 - August 18. And lastly, that in September we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary!
  
  
• And we closed the meeting praying over Bob and Laurie Smith, as he completes his term as an elder.

Our Annual Meeting is a time to remember God’s faithfulness over the past year and prayerfully plan for the upcoming year. From 6:30-7:00pm we will enjoy light refreshments together, followed by the meeting promptly beginning at 7:00pm.

Whether you're a Valley Brook member or an attender you're invited to attend and participate in the meeting, with one exception, only members may make motions and cast votes.

During this meeting we'll:

• Review and celebrate how we have fulfilled God’s vision for Valley Brook
  
  
• Vote to elect Adam Gooley to the Elder Board.
  
  
• Vote to re-elect Matt Deardorff to the Elder Board.
  
  
• Vote on the proposed Operating Budget for the 6/1/25-5/31/26 fiscal year
  
  
• Report on Capital Improvements and Special Projects

ELDER CANDIDATE INFORMATION

Adam Gooley

The Elder Board has unanimously nominated Adam Gooley to serve as an Elder at Valley Brook.

Adam has attended and humbly served at Valley Brook in the following capacities:

• VBCC Member– Began attending Valley Brook in 2017 and attends alongside his wife, Brenda and son, Charles
• Dream Team Member– Serves on the VBCC Worship Arts Team
• Dream Team Member– Served in our Good Friday service for several years
• Life Group Member– An active member of a VBCC Life Group

Matt Deardorff

The Elder Board has unanimously nominated Matt Deardorff to serve as an Elder at Valley Brook.

Matt has attended and humbly served at Valley Brook in the following capacities:

• Elder– this will be Matt’s second term as an Elder.
• Life Group leader– Matt has led or co-led an inter-town life group for several years.
• Dream team– Matt currently serves at Kids Alive, in our midweek program for children in grades 1-5.
• Building Team – Matt is currently leading our Playground Committee.
• Missions– Alongside his wife Megan and children, Matt participated in our most recent short-term Missions trip to Guatemala.
